Phihong introduces the PMA36R-120a 36-W medical grade wall-plug adapter designed for use in minimally invasive, body floating (Type BF) medical applied parts that have conductive, medium-term, or long-term contact with patients, including ventilators, workstations, patient monitoring equipment, and ultrasound machines. A limited power source (LPS) with output leakage of <100 μA at 264 Vac/50 Hz, the medical wall-plug adapter is rated for 115 to 230 Vac input and 12-Vdc output, and is available with interchangeable plugs for international compatibility.
The 36-W adapter is compliant with several international standards for the safety and effectiveness of medical electrical equipment published by the International Electromechanical Commission (IEC), including:
IEC60601-1-2 Ed4 2014, which addresses electromagnetic disturbances, requirements, and tests,
IEC60601-1:2005+A:2012 2xMOPP, which regulates means of patient protection, ensuring a minimum of 4,000 Vac isolation, 8-mm creepage, and double insulation.
The medical grade wall-plug adapter is also compliant with both US Department of Energy (DOE) Level VI and European Union Code of Conduct (CoC) V Tier 2 energy efficiency standards, and certified to UL 60601-1, CE, and RCM safety specifications. It features built-in over voltage, over-current, short-circuit, over-temperature, and brown-in and brownout protections, and is available with seven different AC-input clips (each sold separately) for compatibility with electrical outlets in: the US, Brazil, Europe, Korea, the UK, Argentina, and Australia. Each adapter measures 106.5 mm x 51.5mm x 38.5mm, weighs 220 g, and has a 5.5 x 2.1 x 10 mm fork-and-groove DC plug with an inner (+V) and outer GND(-) plug pin assignment. Allowable operating temperatures for the adapter span 10ºC to +40ºC with up to 90% relative humidity. Pricing in OEM quantities start at $19.25, and samples will be available in Q4 2016 at Phihong distributors. Visit http://phihong.com/admin/uploads/PMA36R.pdf for more information.
